Le Corbusier

Le Corbusier” was one of the greatest pioneers of modern architecture. The Swiss-French architect, painter, designer, urban planner and writer created an everlasting mark on the society we live in today. His ideas about design and colors were groundbreaking at the time. Polychromie Architecturale is an unmatched piece of art and an essential groundwork for those who deal with colors day in and day out.

“Chairs are architecture, sofas are bourgeois – Le Corbusier”

Charles-Édouard Jeanneret-Gris** (1887 – 1965) gathered his ideas and creativity by travelling through Europe and different parts of the globe. The mixture of all the cultures he had seen influenced his thinking and made him a pioneer and a benchmark for other architectural artist at the time. His visionary way of thinking created remarkable buildings and even the shape of cities. His work Polychromie Architecturale consists of 63 shades that are being used today by many artists and manufacturers. The sample cards with the slider mechanic is still used today as an instrument to isolate or combine different colors. This would become not only a useful tool but also a kind of testament of the purist color theory.

“To be modern is not a fashion, it is a state. It is necessary to understand history, and he who understands history knows how to find continuity between that which was, that which is, and that which will be – Le Corbusier”

United States President Lyndon B. Johnson once said: “His influence was universal and his works are invested with a permanent quality possessed by those of very few artists in our history”. Le Corbusier has been one of the main influencers of the 20th century and still is today. One of our partners Dietiker has had the privilege to establish a collaboration with “Les Couleurs® Le Corbusier”. The Felber collection is given the opportunity to expand its great looking appearance with 9 colors of Le Corbusier’s color collection.
